Resolving disputes by agreement
Not every conflict belongs in court. Where agreement is possible, it is usually both the quicker and the more durable route.
In most disputes, carrying on the working relationship counts for more than being proved right. A judgment ends the proceedings, and often the business relationship with them.
What mediation achieves
A neutral third person runs the conversation without deciding it. They make sure both sides are heard, separate the substance from the injury, and record what is agreed. The outcome comes from the parties themselves, which is why it usually lasts longer than a court order.
- VoluntaryParticipation is voluntary. The parties retain control over the process and over the results achieved.
- Interests, not positionsThe parties are supported in identifying their interests, removing communication barriers and developing solutions together.
- UnderstandingMediation improves communication, clears up misunderstandings and encourages compromise, so that a solution acceptable to all sides can be found.
How we support you
We maintain good contacts with mediators in our network who can be brought in for dispute resolution where that is of interest.
Is mediation an option for you?
In an initial conversation we establish whether your conflict is suited to mediation and, where appropriate, make the introduction.
